What is Metaverse?

To understand Metaverse, first, we will discuss what is augmented reality? Augmented reality or AR is a technology that presents us with virtual objects and information in the real world. Like if I am going outside on road then AR will tell me the directions to my destination, nearby restaurants, shops, etc. Augmented reality is provided by many apps like Snapchat, Shapes 3D, etc.

Then there is Virtual Reality, in which an artificial environment is created with software and presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment. You can enter VR via VR headsets but companies can also use mobile and web-based VR using the VR link provided by the management to conduct a 360⁰ VR meeting.

So, is metaverse AR (Augmented Reality) or VR (Virtual Reality)?

It's a mix of Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), blended reality (MR), blockchain, web3, digital forms of money, web-based entertainment, and significantly more. Clients can switch effectively between AR and VR in the metaverse.

The term Metaverse is utilized to portray a mix of computer-generated simulation and blended reality universes got through a program or headset, which permits individuals to have ongoing collaborations and encounters across distance.

 

What are the advantages of Metaverse?

Joining the Metaverse:

Step -1

Go to google and search Decentraland. Open Decentraland.org. Here you can create, explore and trade in the first-ever virtual world owned by its users. Then Click Get Started. 

Step-2:

It will ask you to provide your Metamask walled or other wallets and the second option is to play as a guest. You can select any one option.

Step-3

After that, you need an avatar, a cartoon character of yourself, that reflects your identity in the whole metaverse. Create a Cartoon character that matches your face and body features.

Step-4

When you are done you will enter metaverse city. I joined Genesis City for the first time. You can have two types of camera views:

1-First person View

3-Third person View

To see controls, press C on the keyboard and check all your controls for movement, view change, etc. 

Step-5

At the bottom left corner, there is a chat box that is real-time chat. You can chat with all metaverse avatars.

On the top right corner there is a profile icon, open it to see the following options:

1-      Explore: This means seeing the metaverse world. Buy and sell metaverse land and much more

2-      Backpack

3-      Map

4-    Settings

Last Thoughts:

In Decentraland, you need a dedicated graphics card for better performance. As there are game points inside metaverse where you can play many games with your avatar like ICE Poker, Dragon Rush, etc., and do much more.
